Attendance

After-school programs

We take attendance at the beginning of each session. If your child isn't here, we'll contact you by phone (cell first, then home), so please make sure we have a number to reach you immediately. If you know your child won't be attending, email Scott at kids@kids4kids.ca.

Lunch-hour programs

We take attendance at the start of each session. Please remind your child in the morning that they're going to Kids 4 Kids at lunch, and let their teacher know so they can also remind them. We also announce it over the school intercom. It's the parent's and child's responsibility to ensure they attend; staff don't escort children from classrooms or search the school. Responsibility can be taught at any age, and with a morning reminder, a note in the agenda and the announcement, there's no reason to forget.

Safety, daycare & buses

Added safety

Remind your child the morning of the program and put a note in their schedule so their teacher knows they're going to Kids 4 Kids after school.

YMCA & other daycare

If your child attends a YMCA or other daycare program at the same school, you're responsible for letting them know your child is at Kids 4 Kids. We'll escort your child back when the session ends. This may be a few minutes after we finish, as we make sure every member is connected with their parent first.

Buses

If your child normally takes a bus after school, please tell their teacher and the bus driver that they won't be on the bus.

Food & treats

Children may receive a small treat at a session. We limit candy and sugary treats, usually just one chocolate bar or candy treat across a five-week session or weekly camp. If your child isn't permitted candy, or you'd like to suggest an alternative, email the Kids 4 Kids office before the program starts.

At after-school programs we serve pizza in the last session. All food is peanut-free. If your child is gluten- or lactose-sensitive, we can modify the pizza order to suit their needs.

Refunds & withdrawals

There are no refunds for missed sessions, but a child can make up a session at another time or location.

After-school program

We encourage every child to finish what they start. One session isn't enough to judge a program. If your child withdraws, you forfeit the $50 non-refundable fee and pay $24 per completed session. Children in grade six and up join as leaders-in-training, so the "too old" excuse doesn't apply. (See Scott's Rule of Three article on the website.)

Lunch-hour programs

Once the program starts there are no refunds for missed sessions. If your child withdraws after one session, you pay for the session attended and lose a $25 non-refundable administration fee. If your child misses sessions due to illness, you'll receive a credit toward a future program.

A note on peer pressure: our programs are popular and kids can't wait for the next session, but friends who aren't attending can tempt them to skip. It's a great teachable moment to reinforce finishing what you started and not being swayed by what friends are doing.

Photos & media

Photos are sometimes taken during a program and used in promotion or shared on the Kids 4 Kids Facebook page so parents can see what their children are doing. If you'd prefer your child not be photographed or appear on social media, just email the Kids 4 Kids office. We'll respect your wishes and won't photograph your child or use their photo anywhere.

Grievances & concerns

If you or your child have a concern about any part of a Kids 4 Kids program, please contact Scott Graham directly at 1-905-491-6881 as soon as possible.

We take every concern seriously. If your child is having difficulty with another child, we'll look into it the next session, gather as much information as we can, and work with you to find a solution. If we don't know about an issue, we can't address it, and we want every child to have an incredible Kids 4 Kids experience.
