Leader-in-Training Programs

The Ignite Leader-In-Training Program

The IGNITE Leadership In Training Program is designed for campers between the ages of 10 and 12. Campers will be given daily leadership tasks, promoting leadership skills and providing leadership experience.

Important: Register as a camper and check off the IGNITE PROGRAM. This one-week program runs while your child is at camp.

Tasks may include:

  • Imagine your child befriending a young camper and assisting during a thrilling camp activity, be it swimming, creek studies, or snack/lunchtime. This is just one of the many exciting leadership tasks in the IGNITE program.
  • Could you teach a new game or activity to your group?
  • Contribute to a campfire program.
  • Could you help your leader with the setup of an activity?
  • Could you assist with the supervision of younger campers?

The Ignite members are encouraged to use the Game and Group Management Book as a resource for games and group management techniques.

Extreme Team Sessions

Our Extreme Team Program is designed for campers 13 to 15 years of age. We have hired leadership Extreme Team Advisors to instruct this program. Campers who register for the Extreme Team Program will be involved in a two-week camp program with activities and experiences specifically designed for this age group. This summer, our Extreme Team Advisor is Darcy Riesberry.

The two-week fee is $525.00. This covers the cost of two weeks of camp, two e-books, and an Extreme Team t-shirt.

Campers can register for multiple two-week sessions. The program’s content will change each year, so if your child has been involved previously, they will gain additional leadership techniques.

Camp Kahuna Sleep-Away Camp

If you are 15 years of age, have graduated from the Extreme Team Program and are registering for our sleep-away camp, you may qualify to apply for an Extreme Team role. This is an opportunity to gain additional leadership experience. The total fee still applies.

Extreme Team members who have graduated from the Extreme Team Program and are 14 or 15 years of age may volunteer at any after-school or PD Day camps and receive additional volunteer hours. Their fees are waived for these events.

The Program

Our leadership programs are designed to draw out the best in each Extreme Team member and to help them recognize that every person has something positive to offer.

Extreme Team members arrive at camp at 7:50 a.m. They spend from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. each morning involved in team-building activities and learning leadership techniques. From 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., they work with campers alongside one of our senior staff members. They are fully emerged in the camp program. We made learning fun!

They are led by our Senior Staff, who are caring mentors and role models who can guide Extreme Team members to strive to be their best, gain confidence, and encourage others to be their best. Good leadership is ultimately about asking: what can I do to help myself and the world around me? Scott Graham, founder of Kids 4 Kids and Camp Kahuna, also contributes to the instruction.

Our Extreme Team LIT Program will build confidence and motivate members to gain the hard skills and discipline needed to become effective leaders/camp counsellors.

A Group Lead Opportunity

Before a teacher becomes a teacher, they must gain experience as a student teacher in a classroom. We offer a similar opportunity for you. We allow a few fifteen-year-old members to join their group during a camp week. This is not a paid position but can lead to one. We have chosen Extreme Team members, who we would consider for a position on our staff for the following summer. This allows them to gain valuable group management skills and allows us to see them in action.

We look forward to the opportunity to help your child grow their leadership skills.
