Camp Kahuna Message Board

Be the Example Lead the Adventure

Our 2024 camp season has come to an end, and we’re already thrilled about what’s in store for 2025! This year, we proudly opened our second camp location at Mt. Nemo Scout Camp, where we’re crafting an outdoor adventure experience distinct from our Sidrabene location.

At Mt. Nemo, campers can look forward to a big event each week—like bubble soccer or laser tag—along with a strong focus on outdoor education.

We were fortunate to have two thousand amazing campers join us this summer, and we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the parents for their unwavering support and encouragement. We can’t wait to see you at our 2025 camps!

Kahuna is Halton’s Best Kept Secret

Kahuna has become Halton’s most successful camp and the first choice for parents seeking an incredible camp experience for their children. We have directors at camp who ensure the quality of our camp program and staff meet Camp Kahuna’s high expectations. We want to exceed your expectations about program quality, safety protocols and staffing. “Be the Example. Lead the Adventure.”

The Program

We combine traditional camp activities like campfires, swimming, fishing, cooperative games, and fort building with the extraordinary. Each week, we have theme days that include medieval, wacky hair, superhero and olympic days, to name just a few. We also had presentations from individuals who entertain and role-model leadership. We have had musicians, actors, sports heroes, and animal experts entertain our campers. We have different performers every year to make your child’s experience extraordinary. Please note the photos on this page represent some of our activities at past camps. They are not necessarily the activities we have every year. We are always looking for new experiences so our campers can have an incredible experience. We aim to create the best camp possible for the children and parents we serve.

Before and After Care is offered at our camp location from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m, parents must pick their children up from the camp parking lot.

Safety

We strive to have an extremely safe camp environment for our campers.

We ensure our senior staff, who are eightenn yeas of age or older, have police checks and First Aid/CPR certificates.

We have lifeguards that maintain safety around the pool. Our leaders are either in the pool with our campers or are supervising on the deck. All eyes are on our campers when they are around water.

We have two camp directors who are always at camp, ensuring the campers are safe and our programs run well. Most camps have directors who travel from site to site. Our directors are at camp every day.

We have a 40-foot by 40-foot and a 40 x 60 foot canvas tent to protect our campers from the weather. We take the campers to the main building if the weather is dangerous.

We have sunscreen, and water breaks daily to ensure our campers are protected from the sun and hydrated.

My staff are trained to give your children their undivided attention. Therefore, they are not distracted by electronics.

Our staff are individuals who have a passion for working with children. Many teachers and educational assistants have experience dealing with children of all ages.

A Typical Day at Day Camp

Every week at camp is different. We have fun theme days and pack each day with events like the Kahuna Carnival, Joe-lynn: The World’s Greatest Hypnotist, Wet and Wild Day, Silly Science, and Messy Games. Each day also includes swimming, fishing, cooperative games, and leadership workshops. We want  your child to have an incredible camp experience.

We love creating camp adventures for children. We pull characters from Scott Graham’s books, creating a magical camp environment. We also have theme days each week. Here is an example of a typical theme day at camp. So, as you know, this is just one example of a typical day. Each year, we change activities to ensure our campers have new experiences.

We hope you will consider Camp Kahuna for your child’s camp experience. There is no other camp like ours in Halton. When you come onto the camp property, it is like going to Muskoka. We offer you the best in camp supervision and programming. You may find a less expensive camp, but if you are looking for quality and a camp that puts your children first, you have come to the right camp.

Our Promise

  1. We will provide a exceptional camp program
  2. Superior camp supervision
  3. We will follow up with parents who have concerns
  4. We take constructive critism to heart and will modify camp processes or programming if necessary.
  5. We will role model leadership behaviors and address those staff members, volunteers or leaders-in-training, thast don’t.
